ELISA GALLO ROSSO

51 Removals

by Elisa Gallo Rosso

Contact:

Elisa has lived in many different countries, ranging from Ireland to Egypt, and these experiences altogether form the basis of the new piece '51 Removals', a highly engaging and interactive street theatre using physical theatre and puppetry. Looking for a forever home, Elisa will invite the audience to help her with moving in; where boxes and characters created by random objects will come to life, creating a world of absurdity and poetry.

This new work will use the influences of:

  • Gulliver’s Travels: Several Remote Nations of the World

  • The visually stunning ‘Invisible Cirque’ by Victoria Chaplin and Jean Baptiste Thiérrée

  • Elisa’s own training in Architectural Studies, Puppetry, Set Design and Theatre

Elisa Gallo Rosso

Elisa Gallo Rosso is a Cork-based interdisciplinary performing artist of Italian origin. Her broader practice embraces set design, puppetry, arts participation and clowning.

The crossing from architecture studies to clown training influenced her world as an artist and individual, training with Philippe Gaulier, Sue Morrison, Lucy Hopkins, Jon Wright amongst others. Past credits as a set designer/performer/artistic collaborator with Robin Dingemans, Natasha Davis, Circo Ridiculoso, Quinta Tinta Theatre. In 2020 she was appointed Artistic Director of Cork Puppetry Company overseeing the artistic creation and design of parades commissioned for Cork and Dublin St Patrick’s Day Festivals.
